Barcode Check Center

In our barcode check center we analyse your barcodes with the PC-Scan/LD3 with Laser Device.

We are able to check the following barcode symbologies for you:

  • EAN-8 and EAN-13
  • UPC-A and UPC-E
  • Code 128
  • Code EAN 128
  • Code 2/5 Interleaved and ITF
  • Code 39 and PZN ( Pharma-Central-Number)
  • and further codes on demand.

Moreover we offer you for each verified barcode a detailed audit report. According to your require in German, English, French or Spanish.

We are specialised to check your barcodes according to the specifications of your sales partner (discounter, market etc.).

Our verifiers provide two different evaluations:

  1. ISO/IEC 15420 (traditional - EN 797) which includes bar by bar measurements, quiet-zones, print contrast symbol, light margin infringements and check character errors;
  2. ISO / IEC 15416 (CEN/ANSI - EN 1635) which includes decode, symbol contrast, edge contrast, modulation, Rmin/Rmax, defects and decodability .

The ISO/IEC 15420 (traditional - EN 797) evaluation is good or failed.
The ISO / IEC 15416 (CEN/ANSI 1635) evaluation is:

ANSI A and CEN 4 very good
ANSI B and CEN 3 good
ANSI C and CEN 2 satisfying
ANSI D and CEN 1 not satisfying
ANSI F and CEN 0 failed

Table 1: Quality Classification in ISO / IEC 15416

Classification Rmin* Symbol Contrast ECmin* Modulation Defects Decodability
A = 4 ≤ 0.5 Rmax ≥ 70 % ≥ 15 % ≥ 0.70 ≤ 0.15 ≥ 0.62
B = 3   ≥ 55 %   ≥ 0.60 ≤ 0.20 ≥ 0.50
C = 2   ≥ 40 %   ≥ 0.50 ≤ 0.25 ≥ 0.37
D = 1   ≥ 20 %   ≥ 0.40 ≤ 0.30 ≥ 0.25
F = 0 > 0.5 Rmax < 20 % < 15 % < 0.40 > 0.30 < 0.25

* EC = Edgecontrast; R = Reflexion

An abstract of problems which often occur in printing barcodes:

  • bad layout (film, digital data's - EPS)
  • irregular thickness (Cubs)
  • damage in material
  • vault, roundness and border
  • bad reflection
    (usually background / too glossy dispersion coating)
  • porous packing
  • bad printing
  • color intensity (colors density / color development / master batch)
  • false print direction (with or against pressure)
  • scanning pattern in the background
  • code size too small
  • color background and color print
  • odd and even covers
  • quiet zones too small

Our business parts are:

Workshop/Seminar and consulting service to barcodes

Sale of allowable barcode-verifiers

We analyse your barcodes with a PC-Scan/LD3 with Laser Devise
(films and printed labels) in our own barcode check center. Corresponding your require we also offer a detailed audit report for each verified barcode.
